First Field Trip of 2018!

Asheville/ Mills River

Wednesday March 7,2018

Meet at Lowes on airport road at 9:00 am. GPS address is 19 McKenna Rd. Arden, N.C. 28704

We will drive to Asheville and park near Pack's Tavern( 20 S. Spruce Street. Asheville, N.C. 28801.) 

Take I-26 to 240 to exit 5B on Charlotte Street. 

Turn right to Eagle Street and turn right to Spruce Street and turn right again. 

There is a parking lot on the corner of Spruce Street and Marjorie Street.  There is free parking in the area if your lucky. 

We will meet in front of Pack's Tavern at 9:45am and walk uptown Asheville.  A few of the streets we will visit are College St, Broadway, Walnut, Lexington Ave, Hiawassee St, Haywood St. Page Ave and the Grove Arcade, Battery Park Ave, Wall St. and Patton Ave. back to Pack's Tavern for lunch around 12:30/ 1:00 pm.

After lunch we will visit the Antique Tobacco Barn (75 Swannanoa River Rd. Asheville.)  Bring a flash, monopods are Ok but no tripods. We will shoot until around 3:00pm.

Around 3:00 pm we will drive to Serpentarium Magic( 57 Hunters Ridge Road, Mills River N.C. 28759.) This is out Hwy 280 just past the old Food Lion store that has closed. Admission is $7.00. We should be here around 3:30 and shoot until closing around 5:30.

As always join us for any or all of the trip and please have your release form filled out at the beginning of the day.  If it rains the day of the event we will go to the Antique Tobacco Barn and visit some of the artist in the River Arts district and have lunch at 12 Bones.  Then continue to the Serpentarium.  Click here for printable driving directions!

This year please reply on the CCOH Exchange.  This will give everyone attending notice of who will be going.  This way if you need a ride you can pre-plan who you will be riding with and help us move along in the mornings of the meetup. If you are not on the CCoH Exchange, please contact Ken Weaver who will add you to the Exchange.

Photos that you may take on this field trip can be sent to John Ayre, our Field Trip Video Recap Coordinator. Use the Submission Guide to prepare your images and get them to John by March 20. He will send you a confirmation if he receives them from you.

As with all of our field trips, we require a completely filled out Release Agreement for each person attending our organized events. It is important that you have it downloaded, printed and filled out before you leave home. Have it with you when you arrive at Lowes.
