Club Picnic and Solar Eclipse Viewing Field Trip

This year we will be combining our Annual Club Picnic with a Solar Eclipse Viewing Field Trip.We will meet at the new Ingles on the corner of highway 25 and 176 which is across from Harris Teeter.  We will be leaving the carpool/meet up are at 8:00AM sharp. Park close to the road by the gas pumps.  We will go South on highway 25 into South Carolina to highway 11 which is the "Foothills Parkway". Turn West on highway 11 until you come to a STOP/YIELD  sign, then turn right.  In about 10 minutes, take the second entrance into Table Rock State Park.  There is a toll booth, $5.00 per adult($3.25 for 65 and over, $3/Children 6-15). Drive past the campground to the second shelter called the Lakeside on the right facing the lake. There will be CCoH Picnic signs there.  Total drive time about 40 minutes.

This is an ideal spot as we don't have to hike in and we have a  reserved shelter area which includes partial shade, lake front, grill/fire ring, 10 tables/ 60 capacity, toilets, and paddle boat/ kayak rentals. The beach will be available for viewing but swimming will not be permitted.

The Club will provide soft drinks, ice tea and bottled water for beverages. Each person or couple will bring their own food. The Club will provide plates, cups, flatware, napkins, and table clothes. You are encouraged to bring your spouse or friend.

We are calling this field trip a Solar Viewing event. Please read all the information about the Eclipse in the June IN FOCUS, our monthly newsletter. Unless you have the very special solar photographing equipment, you should not be photographing the phases of the sun. You can be photographing your fellow photographers and other observers and record their shock and awe!

The eclipse will start about 1:00 pm, full eclipse about 2:38 and end at about 4:00 pm.

As with all of our field trips, we require a completely filled out Release Agreement for each person attending our organized events. It is important that you have it downloaded, printed and filled out before you leave home so we will not be holding up our departure from the Ingles meet up site.
