Field Trip to Graveyard Fields for Sunset Photography

Meet at Hog Wild BBQ at 3:00 pm for lunch, an early dinner, or just refreshments. Hog Wild is located West on Hwy 64 at 91 Pisgah Hwy, Pisgah Forest. Leave Hog Wild at 4:00 pm and go West on Hwy 276 to the Blue Ridge Parkway and turn left. Drive to mile marker 418.8. Sunset is at 8:28 pm. Bring a chair, water and snacks. This is also a night of a "New Moon" so we may stay after sunset for star trail shooting.There are several points of interest in this area and you can explore any or all areas close by. Below is a list:

Lower Falls [ easy round trip hike from parking area ]
Black Balsum Knob [ great view ]
Sams Knob [ nice meadow }
Devils Courthouse [360 degree view ]
John Rock { view of looking glass rock and Mt. Pilot ]

This year please reply on the CCOH Exchange. This will give everyone attending notice of who will be going. This way if you need a ride you can pre-plan who you will be riding with and help us move along in the mornings of the meetup. If you are not on the CCoH Exchange, please contact Ken Weaver who will add you to the Exchange.
Photos that you may take on this field trip can be sent to John Ayre, our Field Trip Video Recap Coordinator. Use the Submission Guide to prepare your images and get them to John by May 19. This is a quicker turn around time but we want to show the video recap at the May 22 General Meeting! He will send you a confirmation if he receives them from you.
