We will meet at 6:30pm in the parking lot of Bi/Lo in Pisgah Forest,  Intersection of hwy 280 and 64 w. (41 Forest Gate Dr.   Pisgah Forest, N.C.)  Facing Bi/Lo we will meet on the left  side of the building facing Pizza Hut.  From there we will drive West on hwy 276 to the Blue Ridge Parkway entrance, turn right toward Asheville to the Pink Beds overlook, its between milepost 409 and 410 and the second outlook to the right.   Mike Merrill chose this location with one thing, safety, in mind. Restrooms are available at the Pisgah Lodge(last than 2 miles away.)This is early in the season but the later we wait the later the sun sets.

Forecast for April 26, 2017:    New Moon (we want it to be dark) periods of clouds and sun(we won't be seeing much sun) 73 degrees high 52 low, sunset at 7:50pm, not bad.

We will have a rock cliff on the left to some light painting in the foreground and the fire tower will be in front of us. Mike is trying  to find a unique truck or car to park in the foreground which we can light up inside and do light painting on the outside with flash lights. On the trip back home we can stop at Looking Glass Falls and light it up also!

If any member/members have experience in this type of photography and would like to lead the group in camera technique, please contact Mike Merrill, at [email protected].

A few things you will need, wide angle lens (14/24 is nice,) tripod, head lamp or flashlight, extra camera batteries, remote or cable release, warm cloths, blanket, chair, water and snacks.

Because this type of photography is so new to most of us we have searched out some real good informational videos which can help you prepare for the field trip

RSVP Mike Merrill at [email protected]

Also, Please have your Field Trip Release Agreement filled out in advance so that we do not hold up departure from our meet up location.
