Falling Light
As a WCU grad, Dry Falls is a beloved subject! First of all, I like the strong highlight on the waterfall in the right third of the image, which serves as a strong leading line. It leads the viewer through the images, from the top right to the bottom left. The choice of a slower shutter speed actually simplifies the composition because frozen motion would be too busy. However, a simple way to make this image stronger is to photograph at a time when the light is less harsh. Also, my eye is being pulled away by several bright spots, including the branches (bottom left), foliage (bottom right), and moss (top right). Some would argue that it balances the image, and I agree to an extent. I think a little processing, including lowering the contrast, upping the shadows, and cropping out or removing the branches would really strengthen the image if you don't want to reshoot.
